The type approval (also called homologation or technical data sheet) is an official document from FEDRO containing the technical data of a vehicle approved in Switzerland: make, model, power, weight, CO2 emissions, dimensions and more. Every vehicle registered in Switzerland (car, truck, bus, trailer, construction machinery, motorcycle, etc.) has a unique type approval number.
The type approval number can be found on the vehicle registration document in field 24. It consists of letters and numbers (e.g. 1VD123). You can also search by VIN (chassis number), EU type approval number, or simply by make and model.

If field 24 (type approval) on your vehicle registration document shows IVI or IVIX, it means the vehicle was individually approved. To search for this type of vehicle on SwissCarInfo, use the registration number (field 18 of the vehicle registration document) in the format XXX.XXX.XXX (9 digits, soon 12 with an additional .XXX). This number allows you to find the corresponding technical data sheet.

Yes, you can search for a vehicle by its VIN (Vehicle Identification Number), also known as the chassis number. It is field 23 on the vehicle registration document. Simply enter the complete VIN (17 characters) in the search bar. Our system will automatically identify the corresponding vehicle in the FEDRO database.
